Dear Friends,
 It is with great pleasure that I write this letter announcing the formation of a mutli-disciplinary, research-based initiative known as the Covenant House Institute. With our desire to expand upon our mission to effect profound change in how homeless and at-risk youth are served, the Covenant House Institute will study issues related to this population, provide data critical for policy and funding decisions, and train emerging social-service leaders. The creation of the Covenant House Institute is a natural and important extension of our mission and we look to partner with experts in related areas to broaden the services available to those in need. It is with this desire to see the Covenant House Institute succeed that I have accepted the position of Director of the Covenant House Institute. For the past 23 years, I have lead Covenant House New York, creating services and programs that meet the needs of our kids. With my new role in the Covenant House Institute, I have agreed to step down as executive director. Our Board of Directors has formed a committee to select my successor. During the search progress, beginning July 1, 2008, I have transitioned into my new role while remaining Executive Director of Covenant House New York. I would like to take this moment to thank you for your continued support throughout the years and helping us change the lives of thousands of kids. I look forward to this new chapter for Covenant House. Having strong representation in our Board of Directors ensures that the leadership transition within Covenant House New York will be held to the highest standard. My continued belief that our kids deserve a second chance, along with an opportunity to live independently has allowed me to take on challenges in the past and successfully accomplished certain tasks with the best intentions for our kids in mind. That mind frame and success will certainly be taken with me in my new role. The Covenant House Institute will allow for greater social change and stronger advocacy efforts throughout the world.
