Event: THE RECESSION AND RELATIONSHIPS (HOW TO EMPOWER OURSELVES AND OUR CLIENTS TO SURVIVE AND BE SUCCESSFUL THROUGH BOTH)

Detail: The purpose of this workshop is to provide both clients and their workers with the tools for coping with, surviving and ultimately being successful in todays difficult social and economic climate. This workshop also seeks to show the connection between healthy relationships and improving peoples attitude, outlook and ultimately economic prospects. The format of this workshop consists of a combination of lecture, group discussion/dynamics, cooperative learning and skill building activities. Video and movie clips will also be utilized to facilitate this workshop.

Event: WORKING WITH CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE

Detail: This session defines the needs and concerns of children in foster care. Understand child development and the effects of foster care. Compare the effectiveness of kinship care in comparison to regular foster care. Participants will learn initial assessment skills and treatment plans by looking at case scenarios.

Event: NOT IN OUR HOME! (FROM THE HOOD BACK TO COMMUNITY-CLEANER SAFER AND LIVABLE)

Detail: This workshop is geared toward residents, tenant organizations that represent those living in low income or public housing complexes. Participants in this one-day workshop will examine and discuss the many issues affecting living conditions in those areas as well as devise solutions and step by step strategies for combating them. Crime, violence, litter, pollution, noise and safety will also be highlighted along with ways to improve individual and collective living experiences in restoring a sense of community back into the living areas.
